How do you use DiscFinder?

In short:
Turn on the timer. If you don't find the disc before the time is up, DiscFinder starts to play a melody that makes it much easier to find the disc.

In general, you can expect to hear the sound from about 20 meters away. 30-40+ in open terrain when not much is covering the disc.

Is DiscFinder waterproof?

We left the DiscFinder in water overnight and tested it every week for a year afterwards. It worked fine so we dare say it can withstand fresh water (not tested in salt water).

DiscFinder V2 is water-resistant, but not waterproof. It can handle rain, moisture, and short contact with water. However, after longer or repeated submersion, water may reach internal components and temporarily affect performance. In most cases, the device will work again once it has fully dried.

If you often play in wet conditions or want maximum protection against water, we recommend DiscFinder V1.

Delivery time and shipping price?

Shipping 59 by post or postnord in Norway, we choose what is fastest. For international orders we charge EUR 6,95 in Europe and USD 9,95 outside Europe.

We usually ship your order no later than the next business day from our offices in Drøbak.

I live near Drøbak, can I pick up at the warehouse?

If you live in Drøbak or nearby, you are welcome to pick up, but only by appointment (please write when it suits you in the order and we will respond to you when we process the order).

Do I need anything else?

Everything you need is included. Batteries and double-sided tape/label, sandpaper and alcowipes.

DiscFinder does not use GPS or Bluetooth so you don't need a mobile phone or anything else.

Does DiscFinder start playing the song right away?

You can set the timer to various intervals (V1 30 sec-3min, V2 1-20min). When the time is up, DiscFinder starts playing a melody and does not stop until the disc is found (V2 turns off after 90 minutes).

Is it possible to use DiscFinder in the winter?

With DiscFinder you can extend the season by making it easier to find the disc in snow or in leaves in the fall when it gets dark faster.

How long does the battery last?

We estimate that under normal use — when the melody plays for about one minute, 4–5 times per round — the battery in Version 1 will last for several seasons.

It’s also possible to replace the battery (CR1632).

In Version 2, we use a smaller and lighter CR1216 battery. The battery is not designed to be replaced (unless you have soldering equipment), but we expect it to last at least a couple of seasons with normal use.

Please note that the battery can be affected by water — if your DiscFinder ends up in water, shake and dry it off as soon as possible to help extend its lifespan.
