✅ Quick and easy installation

After much testing and feedback, we have now started using 3M's VHB 5952 double-sided tape on version 1 and 3M's VHB 4991 on version 2. It is better than previous versions in almost all areas - stronger adhesion, better on small surface irregularities and makes the device sit better when hitting e.g. trees or rocks. For most types of plastic, this will sit well enough after about 20 minutes (if there is little risk of hard impacts, it can be used immediately). For rubber and extra "oily plastic types" we suggest that you let it cure for a day.

  • Room temperature:

    In order for the glue to "spread" out, it is important that you apply it at room temperature, preferably a little warmer (the bathroom floor, a little sun, or similar).

  • Smooth surface:

    Remove any remains/bumps from the injection molding with a knife, file or even sandpaper them off.

  • Sandpaper the surface:

    Roughen the surface with the included sandpaper.

  • Clean the disk:

    Wash the area with water and dish soap. Dry thoroughly. Then wipe with an alcohol wipe (supplied). Let dry for at least 1 minute (you can usually see that it evaporates).

  • Finding the center of the disk:

    On the back of the sheet that comes with your order you will find a template that you can cut out and use to find the center. You can also download it here .

  • Pressure!

    Remove the protective film from the tape. Attach the DiscFinder in the middle of the disc. Press down with your thumb/fingers on all sides of the DiscFinder so that the entire device comes into contact with the disc. The adhesive is activated by pressure. For best results – place a glass or similar on the device after pressing and leave overnight.

🔁 Switch between disks?

  • You can move DiscFinder between different discs, but this requires that you have extra labels or use glue (e.g. superglue, Tec-7, Loctite extreme repair or similar). Extra labels and/or superglue can be purchased in the online store.

🎮 How to use DiscFinder

  • V1

    Turn on/off: Press and hold the button. 1 beep = on, 2 beeps = off.

    Select time: Short press to select how long it will take before the alarm sounds (30 sec, 1, 2 or 3 min).

    Start timer: It starts automatically after the last press.

    Stop alarm: Short press when the alarm sounds.

    Restart: Short press to restart the timer.

    Auto-off: The device automatically turns off after 1 minute of inactivity.

  • V2

    Turn on/off:
    Left button. 3 quick consecutive clicks.

    1 beep confirms that the device is turned on, 2 that it is turned off.

    -

    Timer on, timer/alarm off:
    Left button. 1 quick click.
    1 beep confirms that the timer is activated, 2 that you have turned off the timer or alarm (you will of course notice if you turn off the alarm anyway).

    If you do not hear a sound, the device is turned off.

    Next throw
    Left button. 1 quick click.
    1 beep confirms that the timer is on again.

    As long as you have not turned off the device (3 quick clicks), the device remembers the last settings you used (which tone and interval).

    Change tone:
    Left button. 1 hold the button.
    The new tone is played once. There are 4 different tones.

    Change interval:
    Right button. 1 quick click.
    You can choose between 1-3-5-10-15-20 minutes. Each time you click the button, 1-6 beeps will be played corresponding to the selected interval:
    1 beep = 1min | 2 beeps = 3min | 3 beeps = 5min | 4 beeps = 10min | 5 beeps = 15min | 6 beeps = 20min)

    Reset interval:
    Right button. 1 long click.
    1 beep = 1 minute.

⚠ Realistic expectations and use of DiscFinder

  • The DiscFinder is designed to be lightweight, affordable and durable, but just like your discs, it has its limits. During a round of disc golf, it is natural for the disc to hit trees and other obstacles, sometimes with great force. When this happens, both the disc and the DiscFinder are subjected to great forces.

  • DiscFinder usually withstands several hard hits. We have tested it thoroughly, and in the vast majority of cases the device stays firmly in place, even with direct hits. Check out our video where we throw discs straight into a wall – and DiscFinder still holds just as well.

    However, please note that extremely hard impacts against trees or rocks, for example, can in rare cases cause the DiscFinder to come loose or become damaged. This is normal, just as your discs can also be damaged by heavy impacts.

  • Should the DiscFinder come loose, you can easily reattach it with new double-sided tape or a little superglue (then you can continue straight away). The device is designed with simple and affordable components precisely to make it easy and cost-effective to replace or repair it if necessary.

😍 Who uses DiscFinder?

DiscFinder is for those who are tired of searching for discs 🥏🎶🎶

Many say they no longer need to hold back their throws on difficult holes where they would otherwise have to search for a long time or even lose discs. Some set the timer so that it only beeps if they don't find the disc after several minutes, while others want it to beep almost immediately so they never have to search at all.

We have also received good feedback from players with impaired vision who otherwise have great difficulty finding the discs.

We also see that the season can be extended with DiscFinder, as both early darkness or snow often put a stop to the season.

⚙️ How do you use DiscFinder?

In short:
Turn on the timer and throw the disc. If you don't find the disc before the timer runs out, the DiscFinder will start playing a melody that makes it easy to find the disc.

As a rule, you can hear the sound from 20 meters. 30-40+ if it's very open and not much covering the disc.

⏰ Does DiscFinder start playing the song right away?

Version 1:
You can set the timer to 30 seconds, 1, 2, or 3 minutes. When the time is up, DiscFinder will start playing a melody and will not stop until the disc is found.

Version 2:
You can set the timer for 1-3-5-10-15-20 minutes. When the time is up, DiscFinder will start playing a melody (stopping after 90 minutes).

⚡ How long does the battery last?

Version 1
We estimate that with normal use (the melody playing for about 1 minute 4-5 times per round), the battery will last for several seasons in V1. It is also possible to replace the battery (CR1632).

Version 2
In version 2, we use a smaller and lighter battery (CR1216). The battery is not intended to be replaced (unless you have soldering equipment), but we expect it to last at least a couple of seasons under normal use.

Note that the battery can be affected by water – if the DiscFinder gets wet, you should rinse and dry it as soon as possible to extend its lifespan.

🥏 Does DiscFinder affect the flight of the disc?

The vast majority say they don't notice any difference. Many say that in practice they throw the disc further because they no longer have to worry about losing it.

However, a few report noticing a difference. Some say it makes the discs more understable, while others say it makes them overstable. Some have also said that it flies a little shorter due to the increase in weight. The majority of those who have reported noticing a difference are high-level players. But out of now over 12,000 (autumn 2025) units sold, it's probably only about 10 people who have said this.

As most know, hard impacts against trees and rocks will deform the disc and often affect its flight...but we usually don't stop using the disc because of that. And a hard collision, strong wind, cold air, etc. will affect the flight far more than the DiscFinder will, regardless of the level you play at.

If you are concerned that DiscFinder will affect the flight, we suggest testing 2 units first.

🧩 Do I need anything else?

Everything you need is included. Batteries and double-sided tape/labels, sandpaper and alcohol wipes.

DiscFinder does not use GPS or Bluetooth, so you don't need a mobile phone or anything else.

💧 Is DiscFinder waterproof?

We left the DiscFinder V1 in water overnight and tested that it worked every week for a year afterwards. So, we dare say that it can withstand freshwater.

The DiscFinder V2 is water-resistant, but not waterproof. It can withstand rain and brief submersion, but prolonged or repeated immersion may allow water to contact the components. In such cases, the device will normally function again after drying.

If you play a lot in wet conditions or want maximum protection against water, we recommend DiscFinder V1.

👮‍♀️ Is DiscFinder PDGA approved?

This is only relevant for those who play in PDGA-sanctioned tournaments.

The PDGA does not allow any modifications to the disc, such as stickers, paint, cracks, deformations, etc. - they can then refuse to let you use the disc in the tournament. It's therefore no surprise that DiscFinder is also not allowed.

⚓ I live near Drøbak, can I pick up at the warehouse?

If you live in Drøbak or nearby, you can pick it up, but only by appointment (please write when it suits you in the order and we will reply when we process the order).

Outside of Norway we send as regular mail. You will get a reference number and in some countries, like Sweden, you can track it once it is received by the national postal service.

When will the order be shipped?
We usually ship your order within one business day from our offices in Drøbak. If you have ordered something marked PRE-ORDER, the order will be shipped together as soon as it is in stock. Estimated time is listed on each product page.

❄️ Play during winter

With DiscFinder, you can extend the season because you can easily find the disc in snow, under leaves or when it just gets dark sooner.

💵 Are there any other costs?

Norway
DiscFinder is a Norwegian company with a warehouse in Drøbak. If you live on mainland Norway, no other fees apply.

Outside of Norway
All goods are sold excluding VAT and only include postage from Norway. Please check what applies in the country you are ordering from and what additional costs may apply – usually this involves VAT and import duties. In some countries, customs duties may also apply.
