Installation, use and limitations

✅ Quick and easy installation

After much testing and feedback we are now shipping out with a 3M VHB 5952 adhesive. A bit thicker and even stickier, it seems to adapt better to various angles and more forgiving on uneven surfaces. When discs hit obstacles at high speed the discs bend quite dramatically, and this thicker material seems to handle this better.

For most discs it is fine to use after 20 minutes - for more demanding materials (rubber, oily plastics), leave for up to a day before playing with a weight on top (or use super glue). 90% strength is achieved in 24 hours (100% after 72 hours).

Room temperature: It is important for the glue to be able to “spread out” that it is installed in room temperature or higher (bathroom, leave in sun, or similar).

Smooth surface: Remove any bumpts from the moding. A wallpaper knife or chissel makes this easy.

Sand the surface: Roughe the surface with sandpaper.  Adhesion is increased on a rough, but clean, surface.

Clean the disc: Wash the area with water and dish soap. Dry well. Then wipe over with an alcohol wipe (supplied). Let dry.

Finding the center on the disk: On the back you will find a template you can cut out if you want to be sure to place the DiscFinder in the center. You can also download it from discfinder.no

Press together: Remove the protective film on the tape without touching the adhesive with your fingers. Press down on all surfaces of the DiscFinder with your fingers so that the entire device makes contact with the disk. For best results – place a weight on top of the device. The longer under pressure, the better the bond.

💡 Tip/Other attachment methods: Feel free to have a tube of super glue with you in your disc golf backpack - then you can easily attach the device if it should pop off.

Others have also said that other types of adhesives work well on different materials such as Tec-7, Loctite extreme repair, 2-component glue. Read instructions for each type. Feel free to share if you find another good solution.

🔁 Switch between disks?

You can move DiscFinder between discs but you then need extra adhesives or glue (see above for suggestions from other customers). Additional labels and superglue can be purchased in our online store.

⚠ Realistic expectations and use of DiscFinder

The DiscFinder is designed to be lightweight, affordable and durable, but just like your discs, it has its limits. During a round of disc golf, it is natural for the disc to hit trees and other obstacles, sometimes with great force. When this happens, both the disc and the DiscFinder are subjected to great forces.

DiscFinder usually withstands several hard hits. We have tested it thoroughly, and in the vast majority of cases the device stays firmly in place, even with direct hits. Check out our video where we throw discs straight into a wall – and DiscFinder still holds just as well.

However, please note that extremely hard impacts against trees or rocks, for example, can in rare cases cause the DiscFinder to come loose or become damaged. This is normal, just as your discs can also be damaged by heavy impacts.

Should the DiscFinder come loose, you can easily reattach it with new double-sided tape or a little superglue (then you can continue straight away). The device is designed with simple and affordable components in order to to make it easy and cost-effective to replace if necessary.

If you experience any challenges or have suggestions for improvements, we greatly appreciate your feedback. We are continuously working to develop DiscFinder so improve each version - and that is only possible with feedback from you, the users! 😊

🌱 Environmental tip : Remember to remove the battery before discarding the device, or dispose of the entire device as electronic waste.

How do you use DiscFinder?

Long press : Turn on/off

Start Countdown, Short Press: A short press (or multiple presses) selects the time interval on the timer and then automatically starts the countdown. The number of beeps tells you which interval is selected.

| * 30 sec | ** 1 min | *** 2 min | **** 3 min |

Stop countdown/alarm, Short press : When the timer is running or the alarm has gone off, a short press will stop both.

The device is now in standby. If you do nothing, it will turn off after 1 minute. If you want to start the alarm again, do so with a short press, it will then use the last used interval.

Sounds : All functions have their own sound so you learn very quickly how this works.

Is DiscFinder waterproof?

We left the DiscFinder in water overnight and tested it every week for a year afterwards. So, we dare say it can withstand fresh water (not tested in salt water).

Delivery time and shipping price?

We usually ship your order no later than the next business day from our offices in Drøbak.

Do I need anything else?

Everything you need is included. Batteries and double-sided tape/label, sandpaper and alcowipes.

DiscFinder does not use GPS or Bluetooth so you don't need a mobile phone or anything else.

Does DiscFinder start playing the song right away?

You can set the timer to 30 seconds, 1, 2 or 3 minutes. When the time is up, DiscFinder starts playing a melody and does not stop until the disc is found.

Is it possible to use DiscFinder in the winter?

With DiscFinder you can extend the season by making it easier to find the disc in snow or in leaves in the fall when it gets dark faster.

How long does the battery last?

We estimate that with normal use (that melody plays for about 1 minute 4-5 times per round) the battery will last for several seasons.

It is also possible to replace the battery (CR1632)
